El pasado viernes, 2 de junio, la banda irlandesa U2 lanzó una nueva edición de su clásico y popular disco The Joshua Tree para celebrar el 30th aniversario de este álbum que originalmente se publicó el 9 de marzo de 1987 y que debido a su éxito tanto crítico como comercial, convertiría a la mencionada agrupación en estrellas internacionales. Tanta es la importancia del disco que no sólo volvió a la venta sino que se preparó una gira de conciertos por la banda alrededor del mundo que lleva por nombre The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, comenzando el pasado 12 de mayo en Vancouver, Canadá, y terminando el próximo 1ro de agosto.
U2 fue formada en 1976 y desde entonces sus miembros son Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton y Larry Millen Jr. En total han lanzado 13 álbumes de estudio: el primero, titulado Boy, debutó en 1980 y el más reciente, Songs of Innocence, se estrenó en el 2014.
Los interesados podrán escuchar The Joshua Tree en su versión Super Deluxe que incluye 49 tracks en cuatro CDs, el primero es el disco original de once pistas (todas las letras compuestas por Bono), el segundo contiene una grabación del concierto de la gira original de The Joshua Tree de 1987 realizada en el Madison Square Garden. El tercer disco incluye una serie remixes mientras que en el cuarto disco encontrarán b-sides y outtakes.
