Este año se celebra el 40 Aniversario de la popular franquicia Star Wars (conocida en español como La Guerra de las Galaxias) y aprovechando que en los próximos días se estrenará un nuevo episodio (el octavo) de la saga principal, vamos invirtiendo un tiempo en conocer un poco sobre la historia y el impacto de esta serie para después escuchar el soundtrack de todos los episodios que han sido compuestos por el legendario músico John Williams.
Star Wars fue creado por George Lucas y la primer película (en realidad el Episodio IV) se estrenó en Estados Unidos el 25 de mayo de 1977, convirtiéndose instantáneamente en un fenómeno cultural que inspiró a una generación. A esta le siguieron un par de secuelas exitosas, El imperio contraataca/The Empire Strikes Back (1980) y El regreso del Jedi/Return of the Jedi (1983), las cuales, junto a la primera cinta, forman la trilogía original de la franquicia.
La serie tuvo otra trilogía entre los años 1999 y 2005, aunque estos largometrajes fueron precuelas (Episodios I-III) y no obtuvieron tan buen recibimiento por parte de la crítica y los fans como la primer trilogía. Afortunadamente, en el 2015 la historia continuó en el 2015 con el lanzamiento de una nueva trilogía con Star Wars: El despertar de la fuerza/Star Wars: The Force Awakens, el Episodio VII de la saga. Esta película fue un total éxito de crítica y taquilla, recaudando poco más de dos mil millones de dólares (actualmente es la tercer cinta más taquillera de todos los tiempos, después de Avatar y Titanic).
