El día de hoy Brave Wave ha publicado Ninja Gaiden The Definitive Soundtrack Vol. 1 + 2, un álbum compilatorio de las bandas sonoras de los clásicos juegos de Ninja Gaiden, una de las franquicias más emblemáticas y queridas de videojuegos de acción en 2D que primero se lanzó en arcadias en 1988 y un poco después, en el mismo año, llegó al Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
Los juegos originales fueron desarrollados por Tecmo y se centran en el ninja Ryu Hayabusa. Los títulos de 8-bit fueron muy populares gracias a su difícil gameplay de acción y plataformas, la presentación de la historia en pantallas cinemáticas, así como también su pegajosa música chiptune.
Este soundtrack definitivo está divido en dos volúmenes. El primero contiene el score completo del juego de arcadia y también del primer título de NES, ambos titulados simplemente Ninja Gaiden. El segundo volumen incluye todos los temas de los siguientes títulos, Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (1990) y Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (1991). Las canciones han sido restauradas digitalmente bajo la supervisión de Keiji Yamagishi, uno de los compositores originales. Los otros músicos involucrados en estos soundtracks fueron Mikio Saito, Ryuichi Nitta, Mayuko Okamura, Rika Shigeno y Kaori Nakabai.
