Aprovechando que el día de hoy, 16 de noviembre, se festeja un aniversario más (específicamente el número 16) de la primer película de Harry Potter, el popular personaje creado por la autora británica J. K. Rowling, tomémonos un tiempo para conocer un poco sobre esta franquicia de fantasía del cine para después disfrutar el soundtrack de estas cintas.
En el 2001 se estrenó Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal/Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. La cinta fue dirigida por Chris Columbus y contó con las actuaciones de Daniel Radcliffe como Harry Potter, Rupert Grint como Ron Weasley, y Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. La historia aquí sigue a Harry, un niño huérfano que descubre que es un famoso mago y es enviado al Colegio Hogwarts de Magia y Hechicería donde comenzará su educación en estas artes.
Esta adaptación fue excelentemente recibida tanto por la crítica como por el público en general. Con un presupuesto de 125 millones de dólares, esta producción británico-estadounidense recaudó en la taquilla internacional casi 975 millones. Fue nominada a varios Premios de la Academia, incluidas las categorías de Mejor Banda Sonora, Mejor Diseño de Producción y Mejor Diseño de Vestuario.
Por supuesto, existiendo varias novelas oficiales y el éxito del primer largometraje, las secuelas no tardaron en llegar. Al siguiente año, en el 2002, las aventuras de este mago continuaron con Harry Potter y la cámara secreta/Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. A ésta le siguieron otras seis entregas, Harry Potter y el prisionero de Azkaban/Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter y el cáliz de fuego/Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter y la orden del Fénix/Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter y el misterio del príncipe/Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter y las reliquias de la muerte (1ª parte)/Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) y finalmente, la película más taquillera de Warner Bros. Pictures hasta el momento, Harry Potter y las reliquias de la muerte 2/Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011).
Ahora sí, aquí les dejamos en orden de publicación las bandas sonoras de estas ocho películas compuestas por John Williams (las primeras tres), Patrick Doyle (la cuarta), Nicholas Hooper (la quinta y la sexta) y Alexandre Desplat (las dos últimas). Y recuerden que pueden escuchar el soundtrack de Animales Fantásticos y Dónde Encontrarlos (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), cinta de fantasía que se desarrolla en el mismo mundo de Harry Potter.
