Se acerca el Halloween y para estas fechas del próximo año se estrenará un nuevo filme de la franquicia de terror, así que usemos esto como una excusa para escuchar el soundtrack de todas las películas de esta saga creada por el cineasta John Carpenter y Debra Hill. Pero antes, para quienes no conozcan estos filmes, hablemos de la historia general.
En Halloween la historia se centra en Michael Myers, un asesino que de niño fue confinado en un sanatorio por haber matado a su hermana major, Judith Myers. La trama inicia cuando, 15 años después de ingresar, Michael se escapa de allí y comienza a asesinar personas (durante los festejos de Halloween) en Haddonfield, Illinois, mientras su antiguo psiquiatra, el Doctor Sam Loomis, anda tras de él para detenerlo.
La primer cinta, protagonizada por Jamie Lee Curtis, se estrenó en 1978. Con un presupuesto de 300,00 dólares aproximadamente, fue un éxito de taquilla recaudando 47 millones sólamente en Estados Unidos.
Por supuesto, las secuelas no se hicieron esperar: Halloween II debutó en 1981, y es continuación directa de la primer cinta. Al siguiente año llegó Halloween III: el imperio de las brujas/Halloween III: Season of the Witch y tuvieron que pasar cinco años más para que en 1988 saliera Halloween 4: el regreso de Michael Myers/Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (Michael “regresa” ya que, curiosamente, no aparece en la tercer película). Le siguieron Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) y Halloween: la maldición de Michael Myers/Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995).
La franquicia tuvo una nueva entrega en 1998 con Halloween H20: veinte años después/Halloween H20: 20 Years Later en donde Jamie Lee Curtis regresa a interpretar a Laurie Strode (y en donde se ignoran los eventos de la cuarta a la sexta película de la saga). Casi una década después, en el 2007, se lanzó el primer remake de la serie, titulada también Halloween, la cual fue escrita y dirigida por Rob Zombie. El filme, al igual que el original, fue un éxito en taquilla: con un presupuesto de 15 millones de dólares, generó 80 millones en todo el mundo, con lo cual se colocó como la segunda cinta de la franquicia que más dinero obtuvo. En el 2009 se estrenó su secuela, Halloween II, también escrita y dirigida por Zombie.
Ahora sí, aquí les dejamos en orden cronológico las bandas sonoras. Si gustan, pueden escuchar también los álbumes de estudio de Carpenter (quien realizará el soundtrack de la próxima película de la serie).
